Kitessa Hundera is a Professor of Forest Ecology and Management at Jimma University. He holds a PhD in Forest Ecology from the Catholic University of Leuven, Belgium, and an MSc in Botanical Sciences from Addis Ababa University, Ethiopia. He teaches MSc and PhD courses in ecology, conservation, biodiversity, climate change, taxonomy, and ethnobotany. He has supervised over 40 MSc and 2 PhD students, and currently supervises 10 PhD candidates.
Dr. Hundera served as Editor-in-Chief of the *Ethiopian Journal of Education and Sciences* for 5 years and has been an editorial board member for 10 years. He is also a member of the editorial board for *Gada Journal*. He has published over 50 peer-reviewed articles in national and international journals.
Dr. Lulit Tilahun Wolde is an Assistant Professor at the Institute of Biotechnology (IoB), Addis Ababa University, with over 10 years of teaching experience at three Ethiopian universities. Her research focuses on extremophiles in extreme environments like the acidic Dallol ponds and alkaline lakes in the Ethiopian Rift Valley. She has been a research fellow at Brown University (USA) and the Max Planck Institute (Germany), studying extremophiles in the Danakil Depression. Additionally, she has trained in the Netherlands, Kenya, and India in microbial nanotechnology, bioinformatics, and biosafety.
Dr. Lulit has published scientific journal articles and book chapters and has been involved in projects developing marketable hair and skin care products from plants used by Afar communities. Currently, she leads a locally funded project on biogenic crystal-forming microorganisms for improving soil materials in traditional housing.
She is also a co-founder and Vice President of Enqunesh Life for Life, an NGO promoting the integration of indigenous knowledge with technology. Dr. Lulit holds a PhD and Master’s in Biotechnology, and a Bachelor’s in Applied Biology.
Currently serving as Assistant Professor and Dean of the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources at Bonga University. His research focuses on poultry breeding, nutrition, apiculture, and studies of small to medium-sized mammals. He has published numerous articles in both international and national journals. His current research interests include indigenous animal genetic resources, dairy product processing, conventional animal feeds, and the development of synthetic breeds.
As a Principal Investigator, he leads poultry and fishery projects. Previously, he was a lecturer at Bonga University (2018-2023), where he developed innovative curricula to engage students. He also focused on professional development to improve teaching effectiveness and participated in various university committees. He has contributed to academic growth by advising students and supporting academic operations through active participation in departmental meetings and discussions.
Dr. Ginjo Gitima is a dedicated expert and researcher at Bonga University, with a focus on physical Geography and Natural Resource management. He obtained his Master of Science in Geography and Environmental Studies, specializing in Sustainable Natural Resource Management from Dilla University and completed his Ph.D. degree in Geography and Environmental Studies, specializing in Natural Resource and Environmental Management at the University of Gondar, Ethiopia. He has published more than eight articles in peer-reviewed and indexed scientific journals. His research areas include sustainable land management, forest resource management, biodiversity conservation, land use/land cover (LULC) change, soil erosion modeling and assessment, soil and water conservation practices, applications of Geographic Information System, and Remote Sensing in natural resource management, climate change assessment and modeling, disaster risk management and human-environment relationships. His research emphasizes developing solutions that enhance ecological resilience, empower community-led sustainable resource management, and integrate conservation with social equity for mutual environmental and community benefits.
Graduated of BSc Degree in Plant Science from Wachemo University in 2015 G.C, and MSc Degree in Crop and Irrigation Agronomy from Debre Markos University, Ethiopia in 2017 G.C. After graduation, He has been employed by Bonga University, Ethiopia as a Lecturer. Thus, He have been a Lecturer since July 1/2017 G.C up to date with which a total of Seven years of teaching & research experience.
He has been the Head of the Department of Plant Science from Oct 4, 2010-August 30, 2020 G.C. Then, he has been a Director of Indigenous Knowledge Study from Sept, 11, 2020- March 21, 2023 G.C. Currently; He has serving as a Coordinator of Research and Director of Indigenous Knowledge from April 9, 2024 up to date.
Besides this, He has participated in various research and community service activities. Hence, he has got a certificate of committee and community service from different institutions mainly from Bonga University. Similarly, to update his knowledge and skill, he has taken and certified more than Forty-nine online courses out of Ethiopian University. Moreover, He has published more than Twenty-seven articles in an international journal. Additionally, He has taken part in an international journal by reviewing the manuscripts and he certified a reviewer certificate.
His research interests are Agronomy, Crop Production, Sustainable Agriculture, Irrigation, Soil and Water conservation, Soil Science, Horticultural crop production, Herbal plants, etc.
